Non-Faculty Titles

Qualified Health System physicians and dentists (physicians and dentists on the staff of Alliances) may be granted titles in the School of Medicine as either "Associate Physician", "Senior Associate Physician", "Associate Dentist", or "Senior Associate Dentist".

These titles may be granted to individuals with doctoral degrees who are associated with a Health System facility or practice and participate in and contribute to the Mount Sinai Health System.

Health System physicians and dentists must be recommended by the chief executive officer or equivalent of the Health System facility or practice with which they are associated and the Medical Director of the Health System to the Department Chairperson. The titles will be granted by the Dean upon the recommendation of the Department Chairperson.

Individuals granted these titles will not have specific educational or research responsibilities, but will serve as a liaison between the Health System facility or practice and the School of Medicine.

The title does not carry any tenure, term, or financial obligation of the School of Medicine and may be terminated at the discretion of the Dean. Associate/Senior Associate Physician/Dentist titles will terminate automatically upon the termination of Mount Sinai's alliance/affiliation with the Health System facility or practice that the Health System physicians or dentists are associated with or upon the termination of a Health System physician's or dentist's association with a Health System facility or practice, unless waived in writing by the Dean.
