The Eugen Grabscheid, MD, Voice Center

The Eugen Grabscheid, MD, Voice Center is a multidisciplinary program for the management of patients who suffer from any sort of voice disorder. It offers the highest level of medical care for the professional voice, along with a unique understanding of the needs of singers, actors, and lecturers. Our interdisciplinary team of otolaryngologists, speech/language pathologists, neurologists, and voice coaches use the most advanced technology and methods to provide comprehensive evaluation and care.

Our facilities include a vocalizing room with a piano and state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic equipment for the most advanced management of patients. Services are available both on an ongoing basis and as needed for local or visiting performers. Patients may bring their own voice coaches with them, to ensure synergy between medical and vocal intervention.

Medical services available in our new state-of-the-art facility include evaluation and treatment of:

• Pitch and resonance disorders
• Chronic laryngitis


In addition to treating acute disorders, we emphasize preventive maintenance, injury avoidance, and voice assessment to ensure that common strains and infections do not lead to more serious vocal problems.

As members of the faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, our physicians and therapists have access to all the experts and services of The Mount Sinai Hospital, including a team of head and neck surgeons recognized around the world for their advances in the science of preserving and restoring the larynx and vocal chords.

Our Team

Peak Woo, MD, F.A.C.S., a board certified otolaryngologist, serves as Clinical Director of the Center and Chairman of the Voice and Swallowing Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology. He has treated singers in the Metropolitan Opera, Tri-City Opera, Syracuse Opera, and many Broadway musicals. His areas of special interest include voice physiology, phonosurgery, and care of the professional voice.

Linda M. Carroll, M. Phil., CCC/SLP, is the Voice Consultant to the Grabscheid Voice Center. Ms. Carroll is a licensed, certified speech-language pathologist, vocologist, voice trainer, and voice teacher. Ms. Carroll's special interests include injury avoidance in the speaking and singing voice, voice rehabilitation, voice assessment, and voice laboratory instrumentation.
