Dean's Diversity Forum

In partnership with Physicians for Equal Opportunity in Medicine, key Mount Sinai departments, and medical student groups, the Dean's Diversity Forum was launched in fall of 2000. Through this initiative, house staff and faculty participate in a series of educational presentations aimed to increase awareness and to support a learning environment necessary for increasing diversity and cultural competencies among the staff in the School of Medicine. Under the theme Topics in Cultural Diversity in Medicine, the DDF co-sponsors a seminar series, which intersects with existing Departmental Grand Rounds. In addition, the DDF will host an annual conference in partnership with the developing Northeast Consortium on Cultural Diversity in Medicine. Examples of topics include: The Meaning of Race in Science and Health, Decreasing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care, and Workforce Diversity and Health Care Access.
