Urban Health Grand Rounds

Inspired by learning from a public health context, in the CMCA Urban Health Grand Rounds, the "patient" is defined as the urban community and the "presenting problem" is defined as a public health issue challenging the urbancommunity and requiring its informed response. As in medical grand rounds, an expert or a panel of specialists is assembled to provide the most current information related to the case and to assess the problem from their professional perspective, knowledge, and experience.

The goal of CMCA Grand Rounds is twofold: 1) to promote a leadership-level dialogue on urban multicultural and community health issues of strategic significance; and 2) seek to increase awareness of the novel approaches in research and in health care delivery in addressing the challenge of figuring out what works in improving the health of urban populations.

General Objectives

  • To describe current trends in building sustainable local efforts to improve the health of urban communities.
  • To identify evidence-based interventions recommended in research and in practice that works in improving the health of urban populations.
  • To identify reasons to use the community based participatory research as an approach to improve the health of urban populations.
