An Update on Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders: For the Practicing Physician

The overall goal of this educational program is to update the participants regarding certain very common disorders and how this new information will affect their practice. These disorders include Obesity and Diabetes and, in addition, will cover Osteoporosis, Thyroid and Hormone Therapy.

Program Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the basic underlying pathophysiology of obesity, metabolic syndrome, Type 2 diabetes and lipid abnormalities to enhance recognition and treatment.
  • Apply new medications, such as insulins, incretions and oral agents in addition to established medications for the treatment of diabetes and lipid disorders.
  • Identify thyroid disorders and osteoporosis and use established medications and newer medications to treat these disorders.
