Mission StatementCME PurposeThe goal of the Page and William Black Post Graduate School for Continuing Medical Education (CME) is to fulfill the identified needs of physicians and other healthcare providers through educational programming of the highest quality. Additionally, the CME Program aims to provide opportunities to physicians and other healthcare professionals to continue practicing lifelong learning, and ultimately, improve the care of their patients. Content AreasCourses are offered to meet the learning needs of physicians and other healthcare providers in all specialties. Drawing on the latest research and clinical advances of Mount Sinai’s scientific and medical communities, educational needs that will positively impact the practice of medicine are identified, such as:
Mount Sinai is a national leader in a variety of diagnostic technologies and therapeutic fields. Though these fields constitute Mount Sinai’s areas of clinical and research national renown, CME programming is not limited to these areas. Activities will be offered across a broad range of medical disciplines. As biomedical science and technologies advance, educational initiatives in new therapeutic fields will be considered. Target AudienceDepending on the needs identified, practitioners of multiple levels of experience and specialty are considered in the target audience. From the generalist to the most specialized practitioners, Mount Sinai ensures that the broader community of all physicians is well served through CME programming. There is a special mission to serve the practitioners in the New York tri-state area. Additionally physicians and healthcare professionals from all 50 states and many other countries participate in activities held both in the United States and abroad. Enduring materials and Internet CME formats guarantee a varied audience geographically, both domestically and internationally. Type of ActivitiesActivity formats offered include traditional meeting based activities such as grand rounds, hands-on laboratory classes, live surgery televised presentations, didactic courses, and other scientific symposia. In addition, activities are distributed using innovative formats such as videoconferences, CD-ROMs, web broadcasting, and Internet CME in the form of enduring materials online at MSSMTV.org. The scope of the target audience and learning objectives determine the type of activity provided to achieve the greatest educational impact. Expected ResultsThrough the educational interventions of the Page and William Black Post Graduate School for Continuing Medical Education, the participants are expected to take the knowledge they have gained and apply it to their practice to maintain or improve their skills and knowledge. The ultimate result will be improved healthcare for the patients of participants in Mount Sinai CME programming. |
