Our current focus is in developing software algorithms in the area of computer assisted image analysis with specific applications in the area of neuronal reconstruction. We are developing software algorithms that can effectively trace entire dendritic arbors and also detect and characterize dendritic spines at the limit of resolution afforded by Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy.

The ultimate goal of our project is to produce a tool that can efficiently extract a digital representation of a neuron that accurately depicts the structural details of the neuron and that is suitable for structural analysis and/or modeling. To this end, our software must be able to extract the best possible representation and at the same time allow the user to make arbitrary manual corrections interactively.
