The Edith J. Baerwald Professor of Community Medicine (Social Work) is the director of the Division of Social Work and Behavioral Sciences. The current faculty consists of 45 full-time social workers and 38 Adjunct social workers who represent The Mount Sinai Medical Center and its affiliates: Elmhurst Hospital Center, North General Hospital, Jewish Home and Hospital for Aged, the Bronx Veterans Administration Medical Center, Englewood Hospital, and Queens Hospital Center.

The Division's work is reviewed and monitored through quarterly meetings of the entire faculty. Three meetings are of an educational nature, and the other is administrative.
