In March 1997, ACT and NRG from the XRF laboratory traveled to Taiwan with a bone-lead measurement system to perform a preliminary evaluation of the levels of lead exposure in Taiwanese workers. This collaboration was performed with members of The Association of Occupational Medicine in R.O.C. For this preliminary survey we measured 56 subjects in a 10-day period; principally lead exposed workers from PVC stabilizer and lead-acid battery plants but also some "controls" such as teachers and members of the general public.

It is hoped that this collaboration will lead to the reexamination of occupational standards in Taiwan, since the lead exposure levels observed were very high.
