Objectives

To Provide:

  • In-depth training in clinical research methodologies including clinical trial design, behavioral medicine, health outcome measurements, biostatistics and epidemiology, bioethics, and basic science techniques that are applicable to clinical research
  • In-depth training in the analysis, critique and interpretation of datasets
  • Specific curriculum outlining the importance of cultural diversity in clinical research
  • Integration of Mount Sinai's existing clinical research curriculum, currently presented under the auspices of the GCRC, the Department of Medicine, and the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine into the more comprehensive CRTP as a framework for the later development of a master's degree program and of a Ph.D. in clinical research
  • A dyad mentorship (trainee/student) program to enhance appreciation for clinical research among underrepresented minority youth participating in the Center for Excellence in Youth Education at Mount Sinai School of Medicine
  • Access to guidance/counsel from advisors regarding careers in clinical research, in addition to individual mentors
  • Understanding of the concepts and applications of the tools of molecular biology as related to clinical problems
  • Development of written and oral scientific presentation skills
