Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Fellowship
Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine
Mount Sinai Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in our Fellowship Training Program. Here at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, we offer a comprehensive, fully accredited fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. The training program is a combined Mount Sinai Medical Center, Elmhurst, and Queens Hospital Center Fellowship. This amalgam of The Mount Sinai Hospital and the affiliates allows the division to offer a broad-based fellowship with clinical, academic, and investigative components.
We offer two training programs that are designed and tailored to meet the individual needs of each fellow planning a career as either a basic science, or clinical investigator.
- The typical three-year clinician track emphasizes an outstanding clinical education balanced by a clinical investigative component.
- A physician scientist track is offered to those trainees interested in a career in basic science research. Support is available for a fourth year of fellowship for promising young investigators.
Training Hospitals: The Mount Sinai Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital Center, Queens Hospital Center
Number of Fellows: 16
Length of Fellowship: Three years
Major Objectives
- To develop preeminent clinical consultants who understand and practice modern pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine, with a particular talent for teaching.
- To provide the broadest education possible through a highly motivated faculty, diverse patient population, and innovative educational tools.
- To train physicians for future successful careers in academic pulmonary and critical care medicine, (basic science researchers, clinician-researchers, or clinician-educators).
