Rheumatology Fellowship
The Rheumatology Fellowship Program at The Mount Sinai Medical Center is a two-year clinical program in which three fellows are enrolled. The American Board of Internal Medicine requires two years of fellowship training for certification in rheumatology.
Our program consists of two active outpatient clinics, located in the Center for Advanced Medicine (CAM) building on the Mount Sinai campus. The clinics feature state-of-the-art clinical spaces, equipment, and technology. Established patients who have complicated connective tissue diseases receive continuity of care at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Our first-year fellows attend a full-day clinic at the Bronx VA Medical Center, where they acquire expertise in the techniques of joint/soft tissue injection and aspiration. Learn more about our patient care settings.
All fellows are involved in community outreach. Fellows consult for The Mount Sinai Visiting Doctors Program, visiting homebound patients to treat rheumatologic issues. Through home visits, trainees gain valuable perspective and an appreciation of the many medical, social, economic, and emotional challenges that patients and their families face.
While treating inpatients, the fellows receive a wide spectrum of exposure to CTDs and complex clinical problems. On a daily basis, a fellow will see approximately two new patients during consults. During rounds with the attending physicians, these cases are discussed thoroughly.
