The Department of Radiation Oncology offers a highly regarded four year ACGME accredited residency program for 6 trainees starting at the PGY-2 level. Our program offers excellent clinical and didactic training within a highly collegial work environment. Our residents work one-on-one with faculty members and are involved with all aspects of patient care including initial patient work up, simulation, treatment planning, on-treatment visits, follow-up clinic, brachytherapy and tumor boards. Residents are given protected time to attend conferences that occur daily including new patient conference, topic based reviews led by faculty, chart rounds, radiobiology, physics and journal club. Our program is nationally recognized for excellence in brachytherapy and radiobiology. We also emphasize the importance of evidence based medicine in oncology. Objective evidence of our commitment to resident education is our 93% pass rate on the ABR board examination, which ranks #1 among 77 residency programs nationwide.

Both clinical and translational research opportunities are available for interested residents. These efforts have resulted in oral or poster presentations at ASTRO, RSNA and AUA national meetings, publications in prestigious journals and major grant funding. While the goal of our residency program is to train academically oriented oncologists, many of our graduates have also enjoyed success in private practice. Mount Sinai is located in the highly desirable Carnegie Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. A seemingly endless offering of recreational and cultural opportunities are available within walking distance from campus. Excellent subsidized housing options are available through the hospital.
