MD Program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine

Ranked 18th out of 146 medical schools nationwide by US News & World Report and 18th by the National Institute for Health (NIH) for research funding, Mount Sinai School of Medicine carries a legacy of excellence in education, basic, translational and clinical research, patient care and service to our community. Founded on the principle of balancing biologic thinking in medicine with a concern for society and the whole patient, Mount Sinai students and faculty create a rich environment for life-long learning. Having the Medical School and the Mount Sinai Hospital on the same campus has enabled us to bring an extraordinary array of expertise into our classrooms and laboratories.

The MD Program combines the most progressive, technologically advanced, scientifically-based education with the goal of improving societal health care needs locally in New York City and around the world. We explicitly blur the traditional distinction between pre-clinical and clinical years by integrating the basic sciences across courses as well initiating students into to the clinical environment from their first day of school. The Longitudinal Care Experience, a two-year course that pairs students with chronically ill patients, allows students to learn about healthcare and medicine through th eyes of their patients. Mount Sinai encourages and supports the bold thinking and disciplined science that will fundamentally change the face of medicine.
