Answer 1:

1. As always, ABC. If the child is not breathing, it may be secondary to shock or laryngal edema from multiple stings in the neck. He should likely be intubated and resuscitated. Hopefully, correction of hypoxic and volume resuscitation will be adequate.

2. Typical responses to multiple bee stings are toxic and/or allergic reactions:
a) Local cutaneous responses range from maculopapular eruptions to urticaria, angioedema, and ecchymosis.
b) Anxiety, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are common.
c) Dyspnea, bronchospasm, and anaphylaxis can occur.
d) Hypotension and hypertension, as well as anemia, thrombocytopenia, and serum sickness-type reactions have been documented.
e) Bronchopneumonia, pulmonary edema, pschyosis, and death are rarely reported.
