In the unlikely event that volume replacement does not stabilize blood pressure, if pressors are to be used, isoproterenol (Isuprel) at 1 mcg/min or dopamine beginning at doses of 2-5 mcg/kg/min may be used. Norepinephrine (Levophed) should be avoided as it can produce peripheral vasoconstriction and extend hyperthermia. Most likely, volume replacement alone will suffice in correcting hypotension.
