In this case, the products of conception have completely passed. Pain and bleeding cease soon after the entire products of conception have passed. If one can know with certainty that all products have passed often no further therapy is needed. In some cases curettage may be required to be sure that the uterus is completely evacuated and to remove remaining necrotic decidua and decrease the incidence of postabortion bleeding.
