Answer 6 (Threatened Abortion):

Any bloody vaginal discharge or uterine bleeding occurring during the first half of pregnancy has traditionally been presumed to be a threatened miscarriage. The bleeding is typically scant, varying from a brownish discharge to bright red bleeding and may occur repeatedly over several days. On exam, the cervix is closed and uneffaced, and no tissue has passed. The differential diagnosis includes ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, vaginal ulcerations, cervicitis with bleeding, cervical erosions, polyps, and carcinoma. Management is supportive and includes frequent assessment of fetal viability including monitoring serial B-HCG and ultrasound exam
