Answer 5:

You would empirically treat for uncomplicated GC and chlamydia. Recommendations are as follows:

GC: Ceftriaxone, 125 mg IM; cefixime 400 mg PO; ofloxacin, 400 mg PO; or ciprofloxacin, 500 mg PO; all as a single dose plus empiric treatment for chlamydia. Note: quinolones contraindicated in pregnancy or children younger than 18 years of age.

Chlamydia: Doxycycline, 100 mg PO BID for 7 days, or azithromycin, 1 gm PO in a single dose. Alternatives: Ofloxacin, 300 mg PO BID for 7 days; erythromycin base 500 mg PO QID for 7 days; or erythromycin ethylsuccinate, 800 mg PO QID for 7 days. For pregnant women: Erythromycin base, 500 mg PO QID for 7 days.
