No. But this is controversal. It is now felt that maintaining the airway via nasopharyngeal intubation or via orotracheal intubation should take precedence - while maintaining c-spine immobilization.
A lateral c-spine film identifies 70 -50% of all significant bony abnormalities. But, even if a full c spine series was negative this does not exclude an injury in this unconscious patient.
