Two hours is a bit long especially considering that the patients vitals are stable. (Lavage decreases the absorbtion of poisons an average of 11% at 60 minutes -- two hours less.) However, lavage is indicated in any case of ingestion of a lethal drug that has no antidote. Ipecac is contraindicated, at best used with extreme caution as it may
hinder the availibilty of charcoal.
