Chapter III: Organization and Governance
AMENDMENTS TO GOVERNANCE
- Methods of Proposal:
An amendment to these rules of governance may be proposed
by the Dean after consultation with the Executive Faculty
and the Faculty Council, by the Executive Faculty, or by the
Faculty Council. Also, any five Faculty Council representatives
may propose an amendment by submitting it in writing to the
Secretary of the Faculty Council.
- Distribution and Ratification:
A proposed amendment shall be given priority on the agenda
of the Steering Committee of the Faculty Council meetings.
The proposal shall be sent by the Secretary of the Faculty
Council to every member of the Steering Committee at least
fourteen days prior to the next regular or special meeting
of the Committee. If approved, the Secretary shall then send
the proposed amendment to every representative of the Faculty
Council at least fourteen days prior to the next meeting of
the Council. A proposed amendment shall be voted upon at the
meeting of the Council immediately following the one at which
the amendment was discussed. Once approved by the Council,
the amendment will then be submitted to the Executive Faculty
for review and vote. If approved by the Executive Faculty,
the amendment will be submitted to the Board of Trustees for
final review. If an amendment is approved by the Board of
Trustees, it will be incorporated in the governance of the
School of Medicine.
