Chapter IV: Faculty
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
The School of Medicine is committed to assisting individual
faculty in developing their ability to function as effective
educators. Toward this end, the Department of Medical Education
and the Office of Academic Affairs serve as effective resources
for organization of laboratory exercises, construction and
evaluation of examinations, and other educational resources
and materials. Consultative support is also available to provide
a more effective use of audiovisual material and lectures,
use of seminars in teaching, introduction of clinical decision
making into the curriculum, development of criterion reference
examinations, and development and use of computers in the
educational process for both self instruction and testing.
In addition, based on existing faculty needs, periodic seminars
are devoted to issues felt to be of particular concern. On
an individual basis, based on availability of funds, individual
faculty who function as course directors may attend seminars
related to developing their effectiveness as educators.
