Clinical Nutrition

To effectively serve the GCRC, the Nutrition unit is staffed from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. The Kitchen operates from 7:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and as needed to accommodate protocols requiring weekend coverage.

The Nutrition Unit is available for investigators interested in conducting well-controlled human diet studies in both pediatric and adult populations. We provide support for:

  • designing and planning the nutrition component of research protocols
  • development of palatable research diets
  • computer analysis of food records
  • calorie counts
  • administering food frequency questionnaires
  • measuring body composition
  • monitoring compliance
  • other nutritional support as needed
