Overview

The generous support of the John A. Hartford Foundation Center has enabled the Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Adult Development to maintain and continually expand a robust educational infrastructure that supports fellows and junior faculty and enhances faculty development throughout the Department. Since January, with additional funding from a Reynolds Foundation "Faculty Development to Advance Geriatrics Education" (FD~AGE) grant, the Department has launched a Master Clinician-Educator Program in Geriatrics, begun providing onsite consultations to develop and enhance geriatrics training programs at qualified medical schools and residency programs, and is finalizing plans for specialized Mini-Fellowship Programs. Our junior faculty, many of whom are former Center of Excellence scholars, have assumed key teaching roles in these and other ongoing educational endeavors, which have allowed the Department to continually enhance the geriatrics training offered to students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. Following is a summary of Center of Excellence activities to July 2005.
