The Mount Sinai Medical Center
Training Programs
Where to apply for residency or fellowship is perhaps the most important
decision you'll make in your medical career. As you embark on this
next phase in your training, you will, no doubt, seek a position and
an institution where you can receive the most comprehensive foundation
possible, learn how to apply the latest advances in medicine, and acquire
the expertise to excel in the specialty of your choice.
Our Philosophy
Direct experience with patients is the keystone of graduate medical
education. And this experience increases throughout the course of your
training in tandem with your proficiency, skills and comfort in making
assessments and treatment decisions — all under the guidance
of our attending staff in a nurturing and supportive environment.
While individual departments customize their training programs, all
house staff take the core curriculum, and are exposed to a broad array
of cases and a large, diverse patient population. In addition, you will
have the opportunity to pursue your personal interests and explore what
beckons you through electives.
Beginning Postgraduate Life
One of the ways Mount Sinai welcomes you is through a program designed to ease the transition from medical student to house staff. You will meet our physicians, faculty advisors and your colleagues (graduates of the finest medical schools) in a two-day orientation, as well participate in the Morchand Center assessment, all before your first day.
When training commences, you will make daily rounds with attending physicians and medical students, playing an active and meaningful role in the teaching process; and have an opportunity to participate on both the Graduate Medical Education Committee and departmental task forces.
Specialty and Subspecialty Programs
There are more than 800 residents and fellows at Mount Sinai in the programs listed below, all of which are approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the Council on Dental Education, and the appropriate medical specialty board.
