Mount Sinai's Multidisciplinary Training Area in Biophysics, Structural Biology and Biomathematics aims to provide trainees with the conceptual, methodological, and practical foundations needed for research careers in modern biophysics, structural biology, and biomathematics. The program provides outstanding opportunities to select current biological problems and trains students to design and execute a research plan to explore the molecular, structural, and dynamic properties of the system quantitatively using modern approaches in biophysics, structural biology, and biomathematics. The curriculum, shaped to the needs of the trainee, encompasses theoretical and experimental biophysics, structural approaches to biology based on x-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy, functional genomics including bioinformatics and computational biology, mathematics of systems dynamics of cellular function, and representations of neuronal cell dynamics. As part of an active educational environment, trainees enjoy access to excellent research facilities and the support of dedicated faculty. |
