Department of Health Evidence and Policy

The Department of Health Evidence and Policy is the academic department of Mount Sinai School of Medicine specializing in quality of care, health services, clinical outcomes, and health policy research.

The Department has a dual mission:

  1. To advance the science of health services and health policy research; and
  2. To measure and improve the quality of care for the patients and populations served by the Mount Sinai Health System.

The Department's activities include a broad variety of research and quality improvement projects funded by federal, state, city, foundation, system, and hospital sources. Its team of multidisciplinary faculty, project managers, data managers, analysts, and experts in clinical data collection are investigating a variety of topics including: breast cancer, hip fracture, carotid endarterectomy, tympanostomy tube placement, pneumonia, diabetes, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, hypertension, asthma, and adverse drug events, neonatal prematurity, among others.
