New Sites and New Content

If you would like to create a new Website or a new Web page within an existing site, please follow the instructions below. If you have an update or correction to an existing Web page, please see the section Existing Content.

Based on volume, organization level, and graphics, the estimated time to build a site varies. Please let us know what your deadline needs are, and your request will be scheduled accordingly. See the section Estimated Time for approximate timeframes.

Content Requirements

When supplying new content, please provide the following:

  • Keywords and a brief description of your program. These will be used in the meta tags within the HTML code.
  • Where should the content be organized on the Website? Note the broad category on the site under which the content would be organized. For example: The Department of Geriatrics and Adult Development requested a site for the Integrated Palliative Medicine Fellowship, the site would fall under the Programs and Services category of the Department's Website.
  • Content should be organized into sections and subsections with appropriate headings. These headings will be used to generate left navigation. An outline for organizational purposes is helpful though not required.
  • Supply content electronically: we will accept via e-mail attachment or on disk. Microsoft Word documents are preferred for the text, and images as JPG or TIF files (provide captions if applicable) See Submitting Images section for more explanation.
  • Be sure to think ahead for the long-term impact of the content: Will updates be supplied in the future? Are any sections still being written?

All content will be reviewed and determine if organization of the content is user-friendly and within our style standards. Refer to the house style sheet for usage and treatment of words, and proper formatting of citations.

Clients will have the opportunity to review the development site before it is launched. This stage allows for any remaining typographical errors to be corrected.

Submitting Content

Based on the Content Type, please send your request to either weboffice@mssm.edu or webfeedback@mssm.edu. See section Overview concerning Content Types for more information and instructions.
