All are available both on- and off-campus unless otherwise noted. Key resources include: The Mount Sinai Formulary / Lexi-Comp Online provides comprehensive information, including dosage forms, for all the drugs approved for use at The Mount Sinai Hospital. The Formulary includes drug alerts and Mount Sinai Pharmacy Department policies and procedures such as antibiotic approval systems. Lexi-Comp Online also offers comprehensive drug information for U.S. and international drugs not included in the Formulary. Separate indexes within Lexi-Comp Online cover topics such as pediatric and geriatric pharmacotherapy, natural products, parmacogenomics, management of infectious diseases, poisoning and toxicology, nuclear and biological chemical agent exposures, and laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures. Special modules contain drug interaction, IV compatibility and drug identification tools. Finally, a patient care module provides a large collection of patient education handouts on medications, diseases and conditions in up to 18 different languages. The Mount Sinai Formulary / Lexi-Comp Online is updated on an ongoing basis. NOTE: The Mount Sinai Formulary / Lexi-Comp Online is available on-campus only. MICROMEDEX Healthcare Series combines over a dozen databases that provide comprehensive U.S. and international drug and toxicology information. It also offers clinical information on herbal, vitamin, mineral and other dietary supplements; overviews on emergency conditions and treatments, including evironmental and occupational exposures to chemicals and hazardous materials; and an integrated collection of reproductive risk databases that includes Shepard's Catalog of Teratogenic Agents. MICROMEDEX modules offer drug interaction, IV compatibility, and drug identification tools. In addition, the CareNotes System provides an extensive collection of easy to read patient education handouts on medications, diseases and conditions in English and Spanish. AHFS Drug Information from STAT!Ref is a collection of drug monographs from the American Hospital Formulary Service. It provides comparative, unbiased, and evaluative drug information, containing a monograph on virtually every molecular drug entity available in the U.S. AHFS Drug Information is kept current by periodic updates. Drug Information by Gold Standard Multimedia is available from both AccessMedicine and from MD Consult. Gold Standard's Drug Information provides monographs for U.S. prescription drugs, as well as herbal supplements, nutritional and over-the-counter products. The monographs include generic and brand name, complete chemical structure, dosing information, adverse reactions, indications and contraindications, and many full-color photos. Many monographs include patient education handouts in English and Spanish. The information is updated on an ongoing basis. Drugs@FDA is a catalog of most drug products approved by the FDA since 1939, including approved and tentatively approved prescription, over-the-counter and discontinued drugs. Drugs@FDA also includes drug approval letters, labels and review packages, primarily for drug products approved from 1998 to the present. Drug Points (formerly USP DI Drug Information for the Health Care Professional) from STAT!Ref provides in-depth coverage, including both labeled and off-label uses of more than 11,000 generic and brand name drugs dispensed in the U.S. and Canada. |
