The Gustave L. and Janet W. Levy Library

Connect to Full Text from EndNote with OpenURL:

Mount Sinai's EndNote users can now connect automatically from their EndNote references to full text articles available through the Levy Library. To do this you must configure EndNote's OpenURL feature with the Library's OpenURL provider link.

An OpenURL is a standardized format for transferring bibliographic data or metadata in a URL (uniform resource locator).

Instructions:

  • In your EndNote library (version 7 or higher) click the Edit menu, then Preferences.
  • Click on OpenURL.
  • Check the Enable OpenURL box.
  • In the OpenURL Path box, enter the Library's OpenURL provider as follows:

  • Do not change the Arguments box. Click Apply and OK.

To connect to full text:

  • Click on an EndNote reference to select it.
  • Click the References menu, then (in EndNote X1) click URL and OpenURL. (The exact wording will be slightly different in other versions.)
  • The library's OpenURL link resolver should open in a new window. It will connect you to online full text options (if available), the catalog to search for print journal holdings, and the ILLiad system, so you can automatically enter an Interlibrary loan request.

Example Screens:

Click the article link to open the article in a new window. Or, use the other options to find the article in the library's print collection or to submit an Interlibrary loan request:
