New Design for Library's Databases Page

The Library's Databases page, the gateway to over 155 databases provided by the Library, has a new look. We've redesigned it to make it cleaner and easier to use. The redesigned page allows you to:

  • Link to the top 20 most frequently used databases.
  • View databases by common subjects including biological sciences, clinical sciences, drug information, and evidence based medicine.
  • Search for databases using the search box.
  • View a list of all databases either by subject or by title.

To view the new page, go to Databases. Comments? Please send us an email.

New OVID SP Platform: New Look for EBM Reviews, Global Health, and HAPI

The Levy Library's OVID databases have a new look. The new search platform, called OVID SP, was released in February 2008. If you search EBM Reviews (includes ACP Journal Club and Cochrane Library), the Global Health database, the Global Health Archive, or Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HAPI), you will now notice a new interface.

New features in the OVID SP platform include:

  • Improved basic search using free text/natural language.
  • Results are ranked by relevance. A 5 star ranking indicates the most relevant results.
  • Enhanced search aids allow you to narrow or broaden your search by subject, author, and journal.
  • Create a personal account to save searches and create annotations that will be saved as "yellow sticky notes" next to your results.

To search one of the above OVID databases, access through the Library's databases page.

Tech Tip: Export Citations directly from Google Scholar to EndNote or RefWorks

Did you know that you can export references found on Google Scholar directly into your EndNote library or RefWorks account? To do this:

  • Go to Google Scholar and click Scholar Preferences (located on the right side of the main search box).
  • Then under Bibliography Manager, select Show Links to Import Citations Into and then select either RefWorks or EndNote.
  • When you do a Google Scholar search you will now see a link under every search result that will allow you to export that reference directly into EndNote or RefWorks. Click the link and your EndNote library or RefWorks account will automatically open to download the reference you selected.
