Circulation privileges and remote access to Levy Library resources are not available by special request. Anyone wishing to use the Levy Library who is not part of the Mount Sinai community and who does not have a Mount Sinai ID must request permission through the Levy Library Director's office. Requests must be in writing from an authorized administrator (e.g., Departmental Chairperson, Dean, Faculty member) and must include the name of the person for whom privileges are requested, that person's relationship to the department, the project on which he or she is working, the duration of the project, and a statement accepting responsibility for that individual's library use. Requests must also include the individual's business and home addresses and telephone numbers. Please address requests to: Levy Library, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Box 1102, One Gustave L. Levy Place, New York, NY 10029. Submitting a request does not guarantee that permission will be granted, as each request is evaluated individually. Subscription Program A library access subscription program is available to unaffiliated health care practitioners, as well as to non-profit and for-profit organizations. For a fee, in-house use of the library collection will be provided. Circulation privileges and remote access to Levy Library resources are not available by subscription. To obtain a description of the program, fee schedule, and application/agreement, please contact the Administrative Office at (212) 241-6671. General Public The Levy Library is not open to the general public. Please note that the New York Academy of Medicine Library, located at 1216 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10029 (5th Ave and 103rd St, three blocks from Mount Sinai) houses the second largest medical collection open to the general public in the U.S. Residents of the New York Metropolitan area may visit the Levy Library on a pre-arranged date to use a specific item if that item is not available at their local institution, the New York Public Libraries or the New York Academy of Medicine Library. To do so, New York residents must obtain a METRO Courtesy Card ("yellow card") referral from a library that participates in the METRO referral network. The METRO referral network includes many academic and special libraries in the Metropolitan area, as well as the New York Academy of Medicine Library and the New York Public Libraries. METRO Courtesy Cards must be presented to a librarian at the at the Levy Library Reference Desk, which is staffed from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The yellow METRO Courtesy Card indicates which item the reader may use and the date that he or she may visit the Levy Library. METRO Card holders may not use materials that are not listed on the card and they may not borrow materials.
The Levy Library is located on the 11th and 10th floors (the entrance is on the 11th floor) of the Annenberg Building, which also houses the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
