Access the Library from Home?
Mount Sinai faculty, staff and students may access the Levy Library from off campus locations. Go to the Library's website and select the journal, database, or book you wish to use. You will then be prompted to login with your MSSM username and password.

Your MSSM username is usually the first five letters of your last name, your first initial, and a number. (For example: smithj01) If you do not know your MSSM username, look it up here. Your password is set to your life number by default.

Find Books or Journals in the Library?
Search the Levy Library Catalog to find out detailed information about the library's collection, which includes books and journals (both print and online), audiovisual materials, indexes, dissertations, and material from the Mount Sinai Archives.
Find Out about My Mount Sinai Email Account?

Purchase Site Licensed Software?
Mount Sinai students and employees may purchase site license software including SPSS, SAS, MS Office, Adobe, EndNote, and MATLAB. For more information please see instructions here or contact medical school computing by email: med-school-computing@mssm.edu or by phone: (212) 241-7091.
Renew a Book Online?
Renew your library materials online and review your library account using the My Account feature in the catalog. The My Account link is located at the top of all catalog pages.

My Account requires you to login using your user id (library barcode number) or your alternate id (life number). If you have any problems using this service, or if you would like to renew your books by phone, please contact the Circulation Desk at 241-7791 (x47791). A book that has been checked out of the library may be renewed twice unless another person has requested that a hold be placed on it.

Connect to Full-Text from a Database?

The Library has enabled linking from database references to Mount Sinai full-text e-copies:

Read about: Our FIND IT service that connects you to full-text from other databases including CINAHL, PsycINFO, Proquest Direct, Social Work Abstracts, Web of Science, WorldCat and RefWorks.

Find Out the Impact Factors for Journals?

Use the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database to find the impact factors and other data for evaluating over 5,700 leading international science journals and over 1,700 social science journals. Journal Citation Reports is listed on the Library's databases page, under the category Citation Indexes.

Request Articles or Books through Interlibrary Loan?
Mount Sinai faculty, staff, and students may use ILLiad, the library's online Interlibrary Loan service, to request books or articles not held at the Levy Library.

This service is free to you (the library absorbs the cost). Your item can be delivered to you in electronic format, if available, upon your request. Some requests take up to 7-10 days to fill.

Registration is required the first time you use ILLiad. To register, click on New User Information. For questions about InterLibrary Loan, please call (212) 241-7795.

Find Out How Many Times an Article has been Cited?

A cited reference search in ISI's Web of Science database allows you to find out how many times an article has been cited by other publications. Web of Science is listed on the Library's databases page, under the category Citation Indexes.

Use RefWorks or EndNote to Organize my Research and Write my Paper?
Bibliographic management software, such as RefWorks and EndNote, allows you to organize your research, import references from online databases, and automatically format papers and bibliographies. The library offers free access to RefWorks and distributes EndNote software for $50 ($150 off the retail price). Read more here.
