4. Advantages of PubMed

PubMed is the interface used to search MEDLINE at Mount Sinai. In addition to being free, PubMed offers several advantages over other versions of MEDLINE (ex. Ovid, SilverPlatter):

Automatic term mapping: PubMed automatically includes the synonyms and appropriate Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) for your search term in your search.

Access citations for newly published articles: PubMed obtains data before commercial versions of MEDLINE.

Full Text Linking: PubMed's LinkOut system and the Library's FIND IT button allow you to connect to the full text of thousands of articles corresponding to the library's subscriptions.
