3. Advantages of PubMed

PubMed is the interface used to search MEDLINE at Mount Sinai. In addition to being free, PubMed offers several advantages over other versions of MEDLINE (ex. OvidSP, ISI Web of Knowledge):

• Automatic term mapping: PubMed automatically includes the synonyms and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) in your search.
• Access citations for newly published articles: PubMed obtains data before commercial versions of MEDLINE.
• Full Text Linking: PubMed's LinkOut system and the Library's FIND IT button allow you to connect to the full-text of thousands of articles corresponding to the library's subscriptions.
