General Internal Medicine

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai encompasses much more than outstanding clinical care. We pioneer continuous quality improvement efforts, innovative care models, dynamic educational programs, and health services research. Our compassionate providers take a personal and interdisciplinary approach to patient care, working with our colleagues in nursing, social work, medical, and surgical subspecialties, to diagnose, treat, manage, and heal the whole patient.

In collaboration with the Mount Sinai Primary Care Institute, the Division of General Internal Medicine provides services at various sites across New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County. We make referrals and coordinate care with a vast array of health system partners to improve patient outcomes and reduce unnecessary utilization. In addition to our excellent primary care, the Division of General Internal Medicine has championed population health initiatives within the Mount Sinai Health System. We use information technology and data systems to tailor entire clinical programs that better manage chronic illnesses and preventative care efforts, thereby improving patients’ overall health and decreasing health care costs.
