Internal medicine residents rotate through the VA for ICU and CCU care, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 130 West Kingsbridge Road, Bronx NY 10468 as well as general medicine wards. The James J. Peters VA Medical Center offers its Bronxunique patient population for teaching and permits considerable resident autonomy under appropriate supervision. This hospital is renowned for its clinical research and has many well-respected scientists on its faculty including Nobel Laureate Dr. Rosalyn Yalow who developed the radioimmunoassay technique. Residents spend time at the VA learning both primary care and specialty internal medicine care. The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is another component of our training program that insures a diverse patient population for the residency experience. The VA Hospital has new facilities that include major research laboratories and a MICU/CCU. The VA is a paperless, computerized hospital.
