The Brookdale Foundation has generously donated funds to Dr. Lawrence Smith for the creation of a home base for teaching faculty. The Institute for Medical Education (IME) is a fluid infrastructure to enhance all educational programs and teaching faculty at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. To that end, it is a source of support for those who plan to or currently spend a substantial part of their professional lives as teachers of medical students, graduate students, residents, practicing physicians and other medical professionals in the Mount Sinai School of Medicine community.

Membership in the IME is open to all those whose professional identity includes a significant role as a medical/health sciences educator. It includes those throughout the community who wish to devote creative and scholarly effort to medical/health sciences education. Such individuals see themselves as active members of the MSSM teaching community. They have a set of notions about teaching/instructing the next generation of practitioners that stem from both their own experience and that of others. They enjoy talking to others about teaching and learning both here at Sinai and at their respective discipline-oriented national meetings. They appreciate the tension between continuity and change. They see themselves as agents of teaching excellence at Mount Sinai.

This is an inclusive, not an exclusive, organization. To join us, complete the online Membership Form.
