The Institute for Medical Education at Mount Sinai School of Medicine exists solely for the benefit of our teaching faculty. The existence of such an Institute is a powerful testament to our passionate commitment to education and to our teaching faculty.

Our goals are to help develop and promote our teaching faculty, help them build leadership skills, introduce mentoring opportunities, and reward and recognize excellence in teaching. Many faculty have secondary appointments in our Department of Medical Education and a growing number have primary appointments. Much of this depends on the individual's interest in education, and the extent to which they plan to commit their academic career to being master teachers, either basic science or clinical.
