Overview
Minimally
invasive surgery
is one of the fastest growing
areas in surgery today. Combining advanced technology with
patient care has allowed minimally invasive surgeons to do
more with less. Patients are experiencing less pain, shorter
hospital stays, and faster recovery times than were ever imaginable
20 years ago.
In 1998, the Mount Sinai Minimally Invasive Surgery
Center in New York was established with the purpose of advancing the field of minimally
invasive surgery. Combining clinical expertise across the surgical specialties
with advanced technology, the Center is dedicated to
- Providing outstanding patient care focused on continually improving
health outcomes
- Transferring knowledge through a vigorous program of medical education
- Expanding the frontiers of surgery via cutting edge research
The Center's faculty have successfully treated thousands
of patients using minimally invasive surgical procedures,
trained hundreds of surgeons through fellowships and continuing
medical education courses, and engaged in research contributing
to the advancement of new surgical techniques and instrumentation.
