Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Clinical Research Fellowship (CRF) Program for Medical Students

Application
Students who wish to apply to the Mount Sinai School of Medicine CRF program should visit the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Clinical Research Fellowship application page and submit a common application form which is available at: https://crf.aibs.org.
The Doris Duke Common Application deadline is January 6, 2010. Items 1-6 below are to be submitted online when you submit the Common Application.
Mount Sinai Applicants
- Completion of the online common application form, which requests the following information:
- Your contact information
- Education history
- Areas of clinical research you are interested in during fellowship year
- School(s) to which you are applying
- Description of prior research experience, if applicable
- Submit a letter of support from the Associate Dean for Medical Student Research. (Request the letter of support from your references on the online application form well in advance of the deadline). Your dean will receive an e-mail from ddcfcrf@aibs.org and will be asked to submit the letter through the online DDCF.
- Two letters of support from faculty members that address your potential to develop as a clinical investigator. Please discuss with Karen Zier, PhD or Steven H. Itzkowitz, MD before contacting individual mentors. One letter of support must be from the proposed mentor. Address letters to Karen Zier, Ph.D., Program Leader. Your references will receive an e-mail from ddcfcrf@aibs.org and will be asked to submit the letter through the online DDCF.
- A personal statement. You will need to upload a personal statement (PDF) to submit your online application. Your statement should contain a description of a) your reasons for undertaking clinical research; b) your plans for future professional or graduate education as well as your long-term career plans; and c) your current research interests, and the areas or questions that you would like to explore through the fellowship. (Limit to 1.5 pages, 12 pt. font).
- A copy of your curriculum vitae. You will need to upload a copy of your CV (PDF) to submit your online application. (Limit to 2 pages, 12pt. font).
- A copy of your medical school transcript. You will need to upload a copy (PDF) to submit your online application.
- A two-page description of your proposed project. Please submit to grace.oluoch@mssm.edu
- An official copy of your USMLE Score.
Mount Sinai students are expected to participate in Medical Student Research Day the year after their fellowship so that they can share their results with the Mount Sinai community.
Non Mount Sinai Applicants
- Completion of the online common application form.

(Request the letter of support from your references on the online application form well in advance of the deadline). Your dean will receive an e-mail from ddcfcrf@aibs.org and will be asked to submit the letter through the online DDCF.
- Two letters of support from faculty who can comment on your academic performance and potential for clinical research. Your references will receive an e-mail from ddcfcrf@aibs.org and will be asked to submit the letter through the online DDCF.
- A personal statement. You will need to upload a personal statement (PDF) to submit your online application. Your statement should contain a description of a) your reasons for undertaking clinical research; b) your plans for future professional or graduate education as well as your long-term career plans; and c) your current research interests, and the areas or questions that you would like to explore through the fellowship. - An official copy of your USMLE Score.
