Care for Today...Hope for Tomorrow

Welcome to the official home of the MDA/ ALS Program at Mount Sinai. The mission of our multidisciplinary team is two fold. Our Clinical Care Team works together to improve the quality of life for individuals and families facing the challenges of neuromuscular disease through education and support. Our experienced research staff is dedicated to engaging in new innovative research projects to enhance knowledge of the disease leading to a cure.

The Mount Sinai ALS Clinical team includes medical, adaptive, and overall quality of life components. The team consists of two Neurologists, a Program Coordinator, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Adaptive Equipment Specialist, Speech Therapist, and Social Worker. In addition to our core staff members we have consulting team members, including a Pulmonologist, a Gastroenterologist, a Cognitive and Behavioral Neurologist, and a nurse.

Our research team is headed up by Program Director Dale Lange, M.D. and includes a Basic Research Scientist, a Research Coordinator, and a Research Assistant. Current research encompasses both clinical and laboratory research.

Please see the staff profiles for specific information on each discipline and each clinician.

What is so special about this center?
Beyond knowledgeable and caring staff, we have a unique approach to the overall health and well being of the individual diagnosed with ALS, as well as their support network of caregivers. We offer educational support group, educational symposia, and our alternative medicine program where patients and their families can explore the mental and physical health benefits offered through the practices of yoga and massage.
