The Clinical Program for Cerebrovascular Disorders

Lisa Wagner, M.A., N.P.

Ms. Wagner joined the Department of Neurosurgery in 2005, after spending most of her nursing career in various ambulatory oncology settings. It was during this period that her interest in symptom management and end of life care developed, leading her to earn a Masters degree in Palliative Care nursing at New York University, the first such program in the country. She then spent a year as a home hospice nurse before coming to Mount Sinai as Clinical Coordinator for Dr. Joshua Bederson, Co-Director of The Clinical Program for Cerebrovascular Disorder and the Clinical Center for Cranial Base Surgery. As an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Wagner follows the patients with Dr. Bederson and other involved physicians, from the initial encounter through their hospital stay and after their discharge from Mount Sinai. She considers helping patients cope with what can be an overwhelming experience one of the most important aspects of her position and integral to achieving the best possible outcome for each and every patient.
