Ways to Give

These three recent gifts to the Department of Neurosurgery reflect how grateful patients, their family members, and friends of the Department can direct their giving and advance our mission.

• Reconnecting over dinner with a patient who had been operated on eight years earlier, the surgeon discussed the department's skull base and cerebrovascular research. This conversation led to a $100,000 contribution from the former patient and his wife to support the cutting-edge research of the surgeon who saved his life.
• Working with the Development Office to honor the Chairman's commitment to scholarship and academic development, members of his family made a gift of $50,000 to establish and endow the Kalmon D. Post, M.D., Neurosurgery Residency Publication Award.
• Seeking a fitting and lasting memorial for her daughter, a mother updated her will to include a bequest that will endow a new research fund named after her beloved child. The income generated from what is expected to be a million dollar gift will be used to advance scientific investigations related to dystonia.

These gifts were especially meaningful to the donors, and the Department deeply appreciates the thought and generosity reflected in each.

In addition to designated donations, the Department also welcomes unrestricted gifts. These contributions allow the Department to fund important initiatives as needs and new opportunities arise.
