Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program (MFM)

The MFM Fellowship Program at The Mount Sinai Medical Center is a well-established program that has been fully functioning since July 1983. One of the major strengths of our fellowship program lies in the training in prenatal diagnosis and management of a wide variety of fetal problems. Our division received international recognition for work at the forefront of this arena. A large clinic service from both Mount Sinai and our fully integrated affiliate, Elmhurst Hospital, provides a wealth of clinical material with a wide spectrum of high risk problems in the pregnant patient. This clinical material, together with our close relationship with several other services, particularly Genetics, Neonatology, OB anesthesia and Pediatric pathology, provides our fellows with an excellent opportunity to become well trained subspecialists and consultants for managing high-risk pregnancies. Finally, the intellectual and laboratory resources at The Mount Sinai Medical Center provide a superb milieu for innovative research. It is therefore not surprising that most of the graduates of our fellowship to date are full-time academic members of University departments of Ob/Gyn where there are functioning as Maternal- Fetal Subspecialists.
