Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility: Introduction

Mount Sinai's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science has long been a leader in women's healthcare. The Department's Assisted Reproductive Technologies Program was one of the first in vitro clinics in New York City. For over a decade, the Program has combined the expertise of our specialists with the most advanced technology to assist infertile women and men who wish to conceive children. Today, as Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York, LLP, thanks to promising new options in the treatment of infertility, our specialists are able to help even more patients realize their dreams of parenthood.

Our physicians are specialists in all aspects of reproductive endocrinology, including the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis, fibroids, problems with ovulation or sperm function, and recurrent pregnancy loss. As members of the faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, they are involved in research to further reproductive science and technology.

In the warmth and comfort of our new office, our multidisciplinary medical team provides close personal attention. Our physicians and nurses are available seven days a week, and our staff is dedicated to helping patients understand and evaluate their medical options, make important decisions, and manage the emotional stress that accompanies infertility.

The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology is currently performing research on factors such as environmental exposures and aging that interfere with fertility. Ongoing basic research is continuing with the investigation of viral expression in embryos and of transcription factors involved in human cell differentiation. Studies have focused on mechanisms of differentiation during preimplantation development, and on the development of new technologies that might be used in the future to perform both diagnosis and gene therapy on preimplantation embryos. We are committed to using the most advanced procedures and laboratories to increase the likelihood of conception and are dedicated to providing the finest medical care with respect and compassion for our patients at all times.
