Study for the prevention of viral sexually transmitted infections

1. Vaccine for the prevention of genital herpes (NOW RECRUITING)

GCO # 03-0956 - A phase III trial to assess the efficacy and safety of a vaccine for the prevention of genital herpes. Eligible participants are healthy women between the ages of 18 and 30 without any history of oral or genital herpes. Volunteers will be compensated for their participation. Study for the treatment of asymptomatic genital herpes

1. Valtrex Trial (NOW RECRUITING)

GCO # 05-0599 - A randomized, double-blind study to investigate the effects of Valtrex antiviral suppression on patients who have serologic evidence of past exposure to herpes simplex virus type-2 (HSV-2) but have never had any recognized outbreaks or symptoms of genital herpes. Eligible participants are healthy women over the age of 18 without any history of genital herpes symptoms. Volunteers will be compensated for their participation. 1. HPV Vaccine trial to prevent cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer)

GCO # 02-1049 A Randomized, Worldwide, Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blind Study to Investigate the Safety, Immunogenicity, and Efficacy on the Incidence of HPV 16/18-Related CIN 2/3 or Worse of the Quadrivalent HPV (Types 6, 11, 16, 18) L1 Virus-Like Particle (VLP) Vaccine in 16- to 23-Year Old Women - The FUTURE II Study. This study has fully enrolled internationally. Longitudinal follow-up is planned until 2007

2. Vaccine for the prevention of cervical neoplasia (NOW RECRUITING)

GCO # 04-0754 - A phase III trial to assess the efficency and safety of a vaccine for the prevention of persistent HPV-16 and HPV-18 cervical infection, and cervical neoplasia. Eligible participants are women between the ages of 15 and 25 years of age without a prior history of an abnormal Pap smear. Volunteers will be compensated for their participation.
