Medical Innovation Center

The Medical Innovation Center (MIC) is committed to the education and support of entrepreneurial faculty, students, and research staff at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (MSSM).

Successful entrepreneurship is a bottom-up process, driven by committed teams passionate about their ideas. The primary role of the MIC is to educate entrepreneurial scientists about the start-up process. Our goal is to help MSSM scientists start productive companies by:

  • providing a forum in which the MIC and Office of Technology and Business Development (OTBD) can share know-how and resources relevant to start-up formation
  • working with researchers and outside entrepreneurs to identify major unmet medical need, and thereby encourage and facilitate translational research collaborations
  • securing funding and/or potential commercial partners to generate prototypes or proof-of-concept data that bridge the innovation gap, without sacrificing valuable IP or future rights

Have an Idea?

The MIC works with MSSM's OTBD to identify and evaluate technologies with start-up potential. To begin the process, please submit your invention disclosure to technology@mssm.edu.
