Course Description

The goal of this program is to provide participants with a broad overview of the most common disorders of the musculoskeletal system that they frequently encounter in the outpatient setting. Emphasis will be placed on physical exam, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Lectures will cover the diagnosis and non-surgical management of common conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Workshops will be offered in musculoskeletal examination, injection techniques, splinting methods, and imaging interpretation.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this CME activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Generate an appropriate diagnosis of common musculoskeletal disorders
  • Perform physical examination, basic injection, casting, and splinting techniques
  • Develop a method of early management of many orthopaedic problems
  • Order appropriate region specific and interpret imaging studies
  • Understand when to make referral decisions and make the appropriate referrals

Internists, Family Physicians, Physiatrists, Rheumatologists, Neurologists, Geriatricians, Emergency Room Physicians, Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Chiropractors, Individuals in Allied Health Positions
