The Lilian and Benjamin Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute

Douglas West Endowed Memorial Visiting Lectureship
in Geriatrics and Palliative Care

In 1996, Mrs. Susan West established an Endowed Visiting Lectureship in memory of her late husband, Douglas West. Mrs. West made this generous gift in honor of Diane E. Meier, M.D., director of the Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute. Each year, these lectures have focused on different perspectives in palliative care, and through audiences of both professionals and lay people, have served to broaden understanding of care for seriously ill patients and their families.
